To help you sleep. Really, how many times have you seen monkeys snoozing at the zoo?  Bananas, like milk have triptophan which stimulates the production of melatonin for sleep and seratonin in the brain that induces calmness.  Milk, bananas and a turkey sandwich an hour or two before bed and sweet sleep is on it’s way.

Traveling in different time zones disrupts the production of Melatonin. Lack of light is what causes the pineal gland to secrete this hormone. (this is why it is important for your bedroom to be as dark as possible) Basically, when it’s dark, the pineal gland makes melatonin and our bodies think ‘Time for bed!’
